Wife to Trey, mama to Lily, educator, curriculum creator, and the heart behind daily.hodgepodge.
This upcoming school year marks my 10th year in education, and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else. I’m heading into my second year as a founding teacher at Salt and Light Academy, where I’ve had the incredible opportunity to help build a school culture centered around God, grit, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences. Watching this school grow from the ground up has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
Before joining Salt and Light Academy, I spent four years as a specialist teacher — one year as a Math Specialist and three years as a Gifted & Talented Specialist. During that time, I helped develop and grow the gifted program, and it was there that I truly fell in love with curriculum design and creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences for kids. I earned my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction while still teaching full time in the classroom.
Prior to becoming a specialist, I taught both 3rd and 5th grade, spending two years in each classroom. Those years shaped so much of who I am as an educator and taught me the importance of making learning feel exciting, memorable, and meaningful for children.
Creating these themed activity boxes has brought together everything I love most — education, creativity, storytelling, hands-on learning, and imaginative play. Every box is thoughtfully curated with the hope that children feel inspired, curious, capable, and excited to learn through play.

Will the themes always stay the same?+
No — and that's part of the magic! New themed boxes will drop throughout the year, each one bringing a completely different imaginative experience. While one box may invite your child into the world of veterinary care and animal rescue, another might transform them into engineers, explorers, scientists, bakers, gardeners, or problem-solving adventurers. Every box is carefully curated with unique dramatic play materials, STEM-based activities, creative challenges, and hands-on missions designed to spark curiosity and independent exploration. The goal is to give children fresh opportunities to create, build, investigate, and imagine in new ways — all without overwhelming parents with complicated setup or cleanup.
How long does the play last?+
Most kids get a good few sessions out of one box. The Mission Club is there if they want more.
